What is NixPulse Trend Strength?
Condenses trend quality into a single line. Rather than just showing whether a fast average is above or below a slow one, it normalizes the relationship between the two into a bounded strength score.
How It Works
The indicator tracks a fast moving average (fast period) and a slow moving average (slow period), computes the percentage spread between them, and blends that with the recent slope of both lines into a single normalized strength reading. A wide, growing spread with both averages sloping the same direction produces a high strength score.
Parameters
| Parameter | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| fast | 9 | Period of the fast moving average used in the spread/slope calculation |
| slow | 21 | Period of the slow moving average used as the trend baseline |
Signal Interpretation
- A rising strength line above its neutral midpoint signals a strengthening trend.
- A falling strength line toward the midpoint signals the trend is losing conviction.
- Strength pinned near its floor typically marks range-bound, choppy conditions.
- A sharp spike after a crossover suggests the new trend is gaining real follow-through.
- Strength plateauing at an extreme can warn a trend is mature.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use as a filter to avoid trend-following entries when strength is low.
- Combine with NixPulse Momentum for entry timing once strength confirms a tradable trend.
- Widening the gap between fast/slow periods produces a smoother, slower-reacting read.
